| Summary: Resident bands in 1965 included The New KB Band, The Red Hawks, The Falcons, The Hurricanes and latterly The Golden Crusaders. They all both headlined and supported touring acts many times. Saturday afternoon dances continued on many Saturdays until December with The Red Hawks who also played in the evening until relieved of that particular slot by The Hurricanes then The New KB Band. The Shadettes played the ballroom only once in 1963, 1964 and 1965 before landing a residency in November of 1966. The huge increase in capacity from 250 to 1000 patrons caused by the huge building extension in November 1964 moved the Ballroom into the big league of live music venues in Scotland. The result can be seen in the number and importance of the performers listed below. After all, they don't come much more famous than The Kinks, The Who and The Yardbirds (featuring Jeff beck who replaced Eric Clapton only four months earlier in March 1965). Wayne Fontana only ever played the ballroom as a solo artist without The Mindbenders though he was billed to appear with them on Wednesday 17th February 1965 but they didn't turn up. It has been alleged that one too many refreshments at The City Hotel may have played a role to play in their non appearance!
